exciting and informative programs for sacramental preparation (Baptism, Holy Communion and Marriage Preparation), Bible studies, Education for Ministry, book studies, topical forums, activities for young adults (20 – 30 year olds), and offerings for our children and youth. Worship – Most people are drawn to a church community because of the type of worship experiences it offers. Currently, we provide three Sunday liturgies – 8 am at St. Mary’s Chapel, at Trinity we celebrate the Holy Eucharist at 10:30 am and during the academic year, at 6 pm. Several years ago, we held a 9:30 am Sunday service in the parish hall aimed at addressing the spiritual needs of children and youth and actively involving them in every aspect of the liturgy. When the 9:30 am service was discontinued, some of the families left for other churches that have more to offer their children. Adding a second priest to the staff will enable us to re-introduce the child-friendly service on Sundays. Music plays an important part in our church’s worship. We need additional funding to attract a trained music director, who will build the choral music program by recruiting and training adults to join the existing choir and developing a children’s choir and tone chimes choir. Campus Ministry – Campus ministry is part of our primary mission of spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ. It is critical to the future vitality of the whole Church. Trinity is the closest church to the college, and it is incumbent on us to make sure that our evangelism, pastoral care, worship and outreach efforts are directed toward bringing Christ to the students and the students to Christ. Developing an effective ministry on the campus of St. Mary’s College takes time. As much as anything, it is a ministry of presence. Clergy and parish members are needed to spend time being visible on the campus, developing |
