If every parishioner decided to give proportionally to God through the Church, what are the possibilities for growth in 2009 and beyond? There are community needs that can be better addressed by expanding our ministries. There are also several opportunities for reaching out and developing new ministries that better utilize our resources of place – capitalizing on our lovely setting on the water, Trinity Church’s proximity to Historic St. Mary’s City and St. Mary’s College of Maryland, and the lack of availability of gathering spaces sufficiently large enough to accommodate receptions, retreats and other events. Expanding ministries requires additional funding to hire staff, provide needed space and materials to support new programs. Community Needs Pastoral Care – A major part of any church’s ministry is providing for the pastoral needs of parishioners. Current staffing only allows the rector and volunteers to respond to emergency situations and specific requests for assistance. Our aging members need more support than we are able to provide at this time. Adding trained staff, especially a second priest who can assist with the administering sacramental needs of parishioners, will go a long way in improving the availability and quality of pastoral care in our community. Christian Education – Over the last year, our Director of Christian Education has made important contributions to our educational program offerings. Expanding this ministry will allow us to offer many new programs and improve the quality of existing ones. Additional staffing will enable us to develop |
