Outreach

Suggested Amount: $44,000

Our parish’s outreach efforts include both funding and giving of parishioners’ time and talents.  Funding is provided for individuals in need (both parish   members and others who are not associated with our parish). We also send funds to a select group of community service agencies that serve the needs of the poor. Recipients include: Three Oaks Center for Homeless, HOPE,  local food pantries, St. Mary’s Caring, Episcopal Relief and Development, Christmas in April and the United Thank Offering, to name a few.

Parish members volunteer their time and talents to build handicapped access ramps. They often do yard work, make minor repairs and perform other odd jobs for the elderly and infirm.

Eucharist to those in the hospital, nursing home and the homebound. The love of Christ is conveyed in all we do. Our Pastoral Care also         involves visiting parishioners and extended family and friends during times of illness, loneliness, or in times of grief.

Fellowship—Building and maintaining a strong church requires       gathering the community on a regular basis for a variety of activities—some work and some play. Vestry members would like to see us do more intergenerational fun activities. For the last few years, we have made  gingerbread houses and Advent wreaths, painted icons and square danced. Our parish hosts a yearly summer crabcake dinner and in the fall stuffed ham, fried oyster and turkey dinner. Small groups raise funds by catering occasional special food-related events for the broader community.
