include offering a simple community meal for parishioners and students in the Parish Hall on Sundays at 5 pm, hosting a weekly revival of the Holy Grounds Coffee House on weeknights from  8 – 10 pm featuring coffee, light snacks, Bible study or some type of theological discussion on selected topics. Finally, we hope to be able to facilitate student involvement in diocesan, regional and national campus ministry training opportunities, retreats and other events and have included the projected costs into our estimate.  Having additional paid staff to assist with growing the campus ministry would make a significant difference.

 

Seminarian Training - St. Mary’s Parish is a field education site for Virginia Theological Seminary. Seminarians spend                 approximately twelve hours each week participating in parish     ministries. The rector serves as the student’s field education         supervisor, and a select group of parishioners from Trinity and St. Mary’s Chapel serve as a lay advisory committee.  Being a field education parish is a distinct honor for our congregation, especially considering our distance from the seminary and the abundance of churches competing for seminarians.

Congregational Health is measured by the level of involvement in the on-going life, the ministries and activities of the parish.

 

Pastoral Care is a vital part of our ministry to the members and friends of St. Mary’s Parish. We are fortunate to have a Parish Nurse who volunteers a great deal of time assisting the Rector in caring for parishioners.
