  How to Make a Dial-up Connection
 


Windows XP

  1. Click on the "Start" button. Move the cursor up to "Control Panel." Click on "Network and Internet Connections."

  3. Select "Set up or change your Internet connection."

  5. On the new screen click "Setup…", which will bring up the "New Connection Wizard." When this comes up, click "Next."

  7. Select the option button that says "Connect to the Internet." Click "Next."

  9. Choose "Set up my connection manually", and click "Next."

  11. Select "Connect using a dial-up modem", then proceed to click "Next."

  13. Type "Online Gateway" into the text box, and select "Next" again.

  15. Enter the Online Gateway number that is local to you. Click "Next."

  17. Enter your username and password. Be sure that the username is in the form of "username@olg.com".

  19. Click "Finish."
Windows 2000

  1. Click on "Start."

  3. Move up to "Settings" and then click on "Control Panel."

  5. Click on "Internet Options" and then the "Connections" tab along the top.

  7. Click on the "Setup" button which will take you into the "Internet Connection Wizard."

  9. Select "I want to set up my Internet connection manually," (for most home users) or "I want to connect through a local area network (LAN)" (for most business settings). Then click "Next."

  11. Select "I connect through a phone line and a modem," and then click "Next."

  13. Enter the access number that is local to you. Leave the area code box BLANK. In the telephone number box, put in the local access number starting with the area code first.

  15. Uncheck the box that says "Dial using the area code and country code," then press "Next."

  17. Enter your username and password. Be sure to include "@olg.com.


  18. Click "Next."

Windows 98

  1. Click on the "Start" button. Move the cursor up to "Programs," then over to "Internet Explorer," then to "Connection Wizard" and click.

  3. Click on the circle next to "I have an existing Internet account through my phone line or a local area network (LAN)..." then click "Next."

  5. Choose "Select this option if you are accessing the Internet using an Internet service provider or a local area network (LAN)" then click "Next."

  7. Choose "Connect using my phone line," then click "Next."

  9. Select your modem and make sure it is displayed in the box. Click "Next."

  11. If this is your first time setting up your computer to connect to Online Gateway, select "Create a new dial-up connection." If you are simply modifying some settings, choose "Use an existing dial-up connection" then click "Next."

  13. Uncheck the box next to "Dial using the area code and country code." Enter the phone number of the POP local to you.
