         We Are One

The tapestry of our lives is woven together
With the golden threads of
Grief and sorrow
And the silver threads of sadness and tears.

We have walked hand in hand
With our children
Into the unfathomable
And lonely world of death.

We come together yearly for the Compassionate Friends Conference
Strangers from across the world, becoming friends forever
Crying together, feeling each others heartbreak
Laughing together, as we share our children's lives.

Others who have walked this path earlier
Open their arms and hearts
To accept, nurture, and enfold us with love
While guiding us through the process of survival and healing.

Workshops and sharing sessions teach us
That someday we can have peace of mind.
The flames of the candles we light in their memory
Touch each of our souls, and we are one.

We find our way through the darkness of grieving for our
Children, grandchildren, brothers and sisters
Into the light of
Celebrating their lives.

The memories of our precious ones
Are treasures till time is no more.
We wish they were here
And remember them with love.
